Stir Up the Heart of Missions in Your Homeschool
July 14, 2009

This is what I love about having this blog. Being able to share some of the great things that I come across or that others share with me. It is especially great when it is FREE! Yes, an entire unit study designed and written for homeschoolers and it’s free. I haven’t looked through the entire year of lessons but wow, I am intrigued by what is offered here. Take a look and download it! Go to Harvestministry.org.
Here is an excerpt about the curriculum:
“The curriculum includes 160 day-by-day teaching plans, missionary highlights, motivational mission stories, crafts, songs, prayer projects, and hundreds of ways to incorporate a passion for the lost into nearly every subject (including Bible Study, Family Devotions, Reading, Writing, Geography, History, Art, Science, and even highlights for Math).
The curriculum presents a “whirlwind tour” of God’s enduring passion for missions, all-the-way-through-history and all-across-the-globe. Using weekly unit-studies, this curriculum is created to be used over a one-year school year, although it can be easily adapted to be used throughout two years. It can be used as a core curriculum guide (for elementary children), or as a supplement to another curriculum. It is written especially for elementary grade levels, but it can also be used for the whole family to study missions together.”

“A Place to Share, Show and Teach”
March 6, 2009
Have you experienced Homeschool View Tube yet? What a great way for our children to have fun with media in a safe environment. The following is their mission statement:
“It is the desire of HomeSchoolViewTube.com to provide an online video sharing community that will provide a safe place for Christian homeschoolers to share, show and teach, while glorifying God.”
It’s a fairly new site and could really use some good homeschooling contributions. Maybe you and your family can get creative and add to this homeschool version of YouTube! Think of it as show and tell. Have fun, and send me a link if you make a video so I can feature it here on 100 Digits!
You can read more about the site here.

Homeschool I.D.
February 19, 2009

There are a few sites where you can order your own homeschool I.D.. Either for yourself as an educator or for your home schooled student. Homeschool Co-op offers their I.D. templates for free. You can fill in your information and print them out right from home. They also offer a card made of PVC. I ordered this card from them over a year ago and carry it with me. Sometimes it’s good to have for discounts at bookstores, craft stores and teaching supply stores. If you have teens that may take walks or be in the community without supervision it is good to have an i.d. so that a police officer doesn’t site them for being truant. Of course the kids think it’s a fun thing to have too!
At Homeschool Buyer’s Co-Op you fill out a form on their website and they produce the template and upload your photo. Then they will email it to you in a pdf format. They suggest that you take it to an office center and have it laminated for about $2.50. Or you can order the PVC card I spoke of for $6.95. At the time it was the best price on the web for this type of i.d..
Washington’s Trojan Horse
January 19, 2009
WHEN: Friday, January 30th, at 7:00pm
WHERE: Providence Family Baptist Church, now meeting at:
Church of the Good Shepherd
2609 Larch Way
Lynnwood, WA 98036
WHO: All are invited. Of special interest to homeschoolers and those considering homeschooling.
COST: There is no cost to attend; donations gratefully accepted.
“Government-funded programs for homeschoolers are everywhere and they are enticing. They provide free materials, services, and experiences to home educating families. But what price do parents pay to participate in these programs? Is there a cost to the home education movement? Are we welcoming a “Trojan Horse” into our midst through participation in these programs? Are the government schools trying to redefine homeschooling, as just another model of public schooling?
Come and get informed about the history of the programs, their agenda, and what we can do. Together we can and we must preserve the home education movement for future generations!
Scott and DiAnna Brannan founders of the Christian Homeschool Network will give a brief overview of government school-at-home programs along with showing the new powerful DVD, Exposing a Trojan Horse produced by the National ALLIANCE of Christian Home Educators. Watch interviews of leaders of Christian state homeschool organizations, researchers, and parents across the nation as they expose the hidden costs of participating in government-funded programs for home educators.
Whether you are independently homeschooling or currently enrolled in government school-at-home programs, you cannot afford to miss this powerful presentation!” -CHN
